Patang Baaz — Kite Flying Game Online (Free)

A small tug, a little lift, and a whole skyline to cross. Patang Baaz is a free kite flying game built around one simple action: tap to pull the dor, the kite string. Your smiling patang drifts over an imagined old Lahore, past colourful rooftops, tangled wires and rival kites. You do not need an account, a controller or a download. Open the game, choose Urao!, and take your first flight.

How to play Patang Baaz

Start with a short tap. Each tug gives your kite an upward push; gravity brings it down again between taps. The aim is to pass through the open space between the hanging obstacle and the building beneath it. A steady rhythm works better than frantic tapping. Watch the next opening before your kite reaches it, then use small corrections to arrive near its centre.

Touching a building or wire ends the flight. The kite’s face is the part to keep clear: its decorative tail is not an extra obstacle you need to protect. After the end card appears, choose Phir se! for another attempt. A restart takes you back to the ready position without reloading the page.

Controls for phones and keyboards

On a phone or tablet, tap the game itself. On a keyboard, use Space, the Up Arrow or Enter. Holding a key does not keep tugging; each press is one deliberate action. Use the pause button or Escape when you need a break. If you switch to another tab, the game pauses and waits for you to resume.

The sound button works on the title screen, during a flight and in Pause. Your mute preference is saved on this browser when storage is available. Fullscreen gives the scene more room on supported browsers. You can also keep the ordinary page view and scroll down to this guide between attempts.

Points, rival kites and ranks

Passing an obstacle pair adds a point. Flying through a rival kite earns a three-point Kaat di bonus. A rival is a reward, so judge its position against the next gap before committing to the chase. The sky changes between day, dusk and night every 25 points; the colour change does not change the controls.

Ranks mark personal progress: Naya Khiladi below 10 points, Shaukeen from 10, Ustaad from 25, and Basant King from 50. The result card shows your score, best and rival-kite cuts. Your best is a record on this device, not a claim to a global leaderboard.

Three habits for a longer flight

Look ahead rather than following only the kite. If the next gap is higher, begin climbing before you reach the obstacle. If it is lower, let the kite descend while you still have room to correct. Avoid tapping repeatedly at the top of the screen: extra lift can leave you poorly placed for a low opening.

Protect a good run before chasing a bonus. A rival near a dangerous edge can cost more points than it adds. On your next attempt, aim to beat your own best by one clean gap. That small, repeatable target makes the changing obstacle rhythm easier to learn.

The story behind the rooftops

Patang means kite; dor is its string. Kaat di is the celebratory cry associated with cutting another kite’s string in kite contests. Lahore’s rooftop kite-flying culture and Basant celebrations inspire the colours and skyline here. This is an illustrated arcade scene, rather than a map or a simulation of a particular neighbourhood.

The game keeps the competition on your screen. Real kite flying needs safe open space, safe string and attention to local rules. Never fly near roads or power lines, and do not use dangerous coated or metallic string. For more context, visit our Khel Kitab article about Basant and Lahore’s rooftops.

Questions before your next round

Is this patang game free?

Yes. Patang Baaz is free to play in your browser, with no sign-up or download.

How do I cut another kite?

Fly through the small rival kite. It awards Kaat di! and three bonus points. Keep clear of the buildings and wires around it.

Does the tail cause a collision?

No. Collision checks use a forgiving area around the kite’s face, not its trailing decorations.

Will my best score move to another phone?

No. Best scores are saved on this browser. Clearing site storage or changing devices starts a separate record.
